Usage:

Celecoxib (Celebrex®) is an anti-inflammatory (pain and fever reducing) drug. Celecoxib is given as an oral capsule, usually one to two times a day.1

Mechanism:

Celecoxib specifically targets the COX2 enzyme.Since it only binds to the COX2 enzyme, it reduces the negative effects on the stomach that many NSAIDs cause.

Some common side effects include: indigestion, diarrhea, abdominal pain. Celecoxib can have more serious effects on the stomach, liver, and kidneys, but these occurrences are rare.
