Skin cancer on the rise.

Skin cancer on the rise.

New information presented at the 69th Conference of the American Academy of Dermatology showed that skin cancer cases are rising dramatically in the U.S.  The new estimates indicate that in 2006, the actual number of skin cancer cases was over 3.5 million.  The authors suggest that the rise is, in part, due to tanning practices.  Skin cancer is highly preventable via reduction in sun exposure and proper use of sun screen.  Tanning beds are also sources of the radiation that causes skin cancer.
