Resveratrol is a chemical found in wine that has beens shown to have positive effects on cardiovascular health.  Resveratrol has also been studied for its ability to help prevent and treat cancer.  New results indicate that resveratrol can enhance the effects of the anti-cancer drug rapamycin on breast cancer cells. The effects appear to be caused by resveratrol's ability to block the activation of a pro-survival protein, Akt.  The reults indicate that adding resveratrol to treatments which cause Akt activation may be beneficial.
