Arsenic In Urine Linked To Kidney Cancer.

Arsenic In Urine Linked To Kidney Cancer.

A study published in the Journal of Urology examined the relationship between the presence of arsenic in urine and kidney cancer (renal cell carcinoma), the most common form of cancer of the kidneys.  Their conclusion was that the level of arsenic present in urine is strongly related to the development of kidney cancer. In addition, the study also examined the effects of high blood pressure (hypertension) and the speed at which fluid filters through the kidneys (glomerular filtration rate) on the risk from the urinary arsenic. The researchers found that hypertension and low glomerular filtration rates do cause an increase in the risk of kidney cancer caused by arsenic.
