Volunteer

Volunteers play a very important role at CancerQuest.  Volunteering opportunities include:

  • Outreach - CancerQuest members go to schools, healthfairs, support groups, clinics and other locations in the Atlanta metropolitan area to teach about the biology of cancer, risk reduction and cancer treatment.  Our outreach includes events primarily targeted at both English and Spanish speaking participants.
  • Public Relations - We are constantly working to extend the reach of the project to educate and empower as many people as possible.  Volunteers work to raise awareness of CancerQuest and our educational products.
  • Researching New Content - Volunteers have helped to research much of the content on the site.
  • Videography and Video Editing - CancerQuest strives to produce clear, authoritative documentaries and engaging, informative interviews.  Opportunities exist in all facets of video production.
  • Technical Development - From the design of software applications to input on the colors used in the site, volunteers play a major role in helping keep CancerQuest at the technological and educational cutting edge.
  • Evaluation - To ensure that the objective of the project is met, products developed by CancerQuest, including the website itself, must be assessed by formal evaluation.  Methods include paper and online surveys and focus groups.

Volunteers typically commit to working one or two afternoons per week.

If you are interested in working more hours per week or over a summer, we have had several interns sponsored by donors and the SURE program at Emory University.  We have also hosted interns from the China Medical University (Taichung, Taiwan).  Find out more about internship opportunities.
