Interview with Dr. Samir Hanash

Dr. Samir Hanash
Program Head, Molecular Diagnostics
Public Heath Sciences Division
Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center

Dr. Hanash studies the differences between normal cells and cancer cells.  To do this he examines the proteins that are produced in both situations.  The information may provide information that can be used to design drugs that can interfere with products found to be important to cancer cells.  The work can also aid in the design of treatment regimens for patients by generating sensitivity and resistance profiles for each individual case of cancer.  An additional outcome could be the development of new early detection tests for cancer.
