Breast Cancer: A Patient's Journey

A wide variety of methods are used to screen for early cancers and to locate cancer in patients already diagnosed with the disease. The video modules in this series describe breast cancer detection and diagnosis techniques including: mammography, ultrasound, breast biopsy, sentinel lymph node biopsy, and pathology. Lymphedema, a side effect that may occur as a result of techniques used for breast cancer detection, is also discussed in a video module. It is important to note that like any medical test, the cancer detection methods described here have limits and are not 100% accurate. The series explains these limitations, such as false positives, false negatives, sensitivity and specificity.

Each video module also contains a list of frequently asked questions.
