CBC: Blood Cell Lineage

The diagram below shows the different kinds of blood cells and their relationshipto each other.  All of the cells originate from a single type of cell (the pluripotent stem cell) that is found in bone marrow.  Stem cells are able to change into different types of cells.  The process is called differentiation and the result is a variety of different blood cells with different functions.
